I first got my hands on Linux around age twelve — roughly the era of Ubuntu 10.04 — and never looked back. Since then I've taught myself, step by step, what defines my work today: from running individual websites, through my own hosting business, to fully automated, containerized server landscapes — always preferring to actually understand and own systems rather than just administer them.
Professionally, I've been a Linux System Administrator at 1&1 Telecommunication SE since 2022, running a business-critical, highly available VoIP and DSL infrastructure and automating recurring processes with Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu, and my own Bash and Python scripts. Before that, I worked as a Site Reliability Engineer at Relaxdays and as a co-owner of my own hosting business.
How independently I like to work shows most clearly in my volunteer role at HanaCon e.V., where I run the entire server infrastructure and design/develop the association's websites myself — containerized with Docker, virtualized on my own Proxmox cluster, automated with Ansible, and monitored with Grafana and Icinga. This portfolio showcases a selection of those projects.
Alongside my day job, I volunteer in event technology — mainly video direction and stage media playback — at conventions like Connichi, Animagic, and AnimeMesse Babelsberg, as well as the partner events KAIDAN and KOIBANA. That exact experience feeds directly into StageView, my own software for controlling media content on stage displays. Language-wise, I work between German (native) and English (B2/C1); in my free time I gravitate toward strategy and building sims like RimWorld and Stellaris.
